Top of the World

O..M..G!  What a drive!  We left Dawson City about 8:15 am or so, headed over to the free ferry which takes passengers, RV’s, trucks and everything to West Dawson City.  Our friend Mark was ahead of us, after he got on it was our turn.  Kim and Jim had to wait until the next trip, they have a 40’ motor home, plus the car they tow.

Then it was off to the top!

Jezebel even came out to see the view

We headed down the other side and had even more great views, including an old roadhouse, went thru customs at the border and finally, here we are in Alaska!

Arrived  in Chicken, Alaska.  The distance was short in miles, but driving the narrow gravel road made for slow going. Lunch at the cafe and a few photos then on to the BLM campground just West of town.  Kim had a bottle of champagne to celebrate our safe passage over the top.  Would we do it again, you bet we would!  But we’d also like to find some camp sites along the way so we could explore some of the roads leading off the highway.

After a restful night, our little group continued on to Tok.  We agreed to meet for lunch at Fast Eddy’s where some of us indulged in a plate of fried mushrooms

They were very good!

Stay tuned, more adventures to follow.
