Dawson City is in the far North of the Yukon Territory right on the banks of the Yukon River and the heart of the Klondike Gold Rush. Right up one of the tributaries, Hunker Creek, gold was discovered then in Bonanza Creek a bit later. There is a dirt road that follows Hunker creek to where it joins Bonanza Creek. We drove that today. Here’s just a few of the more than 50 photos we took on that drive.
This evening we took a walking tour of some of the historical buildings in Dawson Creek. Our guide, Jonathan, was knowledgeable and funny and a good story teller too. Here’s some of the sights we saw on the walk.
Tomorrow’s adventure will take us part way up the Dempster Highway.
